01
Set the depth of the lid
A deep lid hides most of the base and creates a slower reveal. A shallower lid leaves more of the lower section visible and can be easier to grip. The choice affects artwork placement, material use and the space needed to open the box.
02
Check fit on the finished materials
A lid that fits raw board may behave differently after wrapping. Covering thickness, corners and assembly influence the final clearance. We check whether the lid seats evenly and can be lifted comfortably, rather than promising a particular closing feel from dimensions alone.
03
Coordinate inside and outside
An insert may present a jar, perfume bottle or several objects at different heights. Its top edge should work with the lid and the visible base. Paper, colour and decoration can coordinate across both pieces; special materials and quantities are confirmed through the project brief.
